Featuring: The Engagements // Baby Soda Jazz Band // The Affections // The Loyales // Tribute String Quartet // The Prenups // Soft as a Pear
Since 2009, musician-run Lucy Music has provided the highest quality bands to clients seeking non-cheesy alternatives to the typical wedding fare.
Each of Lucy Music's NYC-based bands are "real bands," meaning they're groups of friends that all play in each other's original projects. They give themselves "cover band" aliases like The Prenups and The Loyales for when they play weddings and parties.
Lucy Music bands performed at 100 weddings last year, and their clients find it refreshing that they aren't the "typical wedding bands" put together by some wedding band agency.
The credentials of the bandmembers include work with critically acclaimed artists like Bjork, D'Angelo, Bruce Springsteen, Florence and the Machine, Michael McDonald, & Jay-Z.
Some recent reviews:
" Tough to get across in a review just how great The Engagements were at our wedding. Phenomenally tight band, great singers, and awesome awesome set list seguing from sam cooke to the beatles to james brown to 80s michael to bowie to the boss to the clash."
" The processional music was a perfect complement to the beauty and personality of our ceremony, and although my partner and I planned to retreat to a private space for the bulk of the cocktail hour the Loyales' rootsy acoustics drew us out to join our guests immediately because we didn't want to miss out on any of the fun - and that was just the start! Once the party got going, the dance floor was never empty, the music was perfectly curated, all our requested songs were played seamlessly (including the first dance) and the band performed at a level that I have never personally experienced at a wedding. The Loyales are deserving of any and all accolades; they are a first class New York institution and made our wedding memorable for everyone in attendance. Book them ASAP!!!"
"We can't recommend Baby Soda Jazz Band enough. At our wedding, they provided stellar musicianship, perfect sensitivity to the room and the guests, and a wide knowledge of their musical idiom. Attire, and overall presentation worked perfectly with our retro, art-deco, refined vibe, and the music was absolutely swinging. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Baby Soda Jazz Band. "
" It's impossible to convey how great of a band The Prenups are. I've never seen a dance floor fill up so quickly and stay as packed as when they played at our wedding. The band read the crowd perfectly and set the tone for the whole night with a blend of Temptations, Rolling Stones, Ronettes, and J. Geils, among many others, that saw young and old people dancing side-by-side until the lights came back on. On top of all this, they were incredibly attentive and easy to talk to leading up to the wedding, even learning a handful of songs for us that, unsurprisingly, ended up sounding like something they'd been playing for decades. My wife and I, and countless guests, are now card-carrying members of The Prenups fan club, and cannot recommend them enough. "
" Listen to some of Tribute String Quartet's tracks on their site and search for them on YouTube. You'll be stunned by how the strings version of a pop or rock song can be transformed into something even more amazing. We hired them for our ceremony and cocktail hour and we got so many compliments from our guests about how original and incredible the music was. I walked down the aisle to Guns 'n' Roses "Sweet Child O' Mine" and it was absolutely magical. All my guests laughed when they realized what the song was, which is exactly what I was hoping for. They were truly one of the highlights of our day, and could not have been more professional. Aaron was great to work with and super cool - we didn't send our final song selections until the week of our wedding, and it was no problem. Everyone was where they were supposed to be, when they were supposed to be there, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. If you're looking for a really cool way to differentiate yourself from all the other weddings, book TSQ for your ceremony (or the whole shebang!). You won't regret it."
